Position Overview
Performs research activities and analysis; implements, evaluates and recommends adjustments to research procedures.  Records observations and measurements and analyzes results.  Responsible for synthesizing and independently preparing results for publication.  Works under general supervision with a significant degree of creativity and latitude.  May coordinate research operations and the daily activities of junior research personnel.
Unit Overview
The Researcher works within a team-based environment to support the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) Office of Grant and Project Development (OGPD).
 
This position assists directly with OGPD’s externally funded projects. The Researcher reports to the OGPD Director and works closely with OGPD team members. This position is contingent upon continuation of funding and/or work.

Position Responsibilities


Key Accountability Participate in OGPD research projects:
Job Duties
  • Collects, manages, and analyzes social science data.
  • Plans and conducts social science research.
Key Accountability Provide project management:
Job Duties
  • Maintains detailed records of results and prepares written reports acceptable to the Principal Investigator and funding agencies.
  • Coordinates project management activities such as advisory board meetings.
  • Helps manage team projects.
Key Accountability Contribute to overall benefit of the OGPD:
Job Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and trainings pertinent to job duties and requirements.
  • Update or learn new technology and/or skills.

Required Experience
  • Two years of research experience beyond receipt of master’s degree related to the domain of this position.
Required Education
  • Master’s degree in a social sciences discipline.

Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • Occasional flexibility to work outside of normal work hours.
  • Ability to travel in the region to collect data.

Additional Preferred
  • Experience writing research grant proposals.
  • Experience supporting preparation of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience applying social research statistical approaches to data collection and analysis.
