Description of Work Unit
The department currently comprises 21 faculty and over 100 graduate students in our MS, MAS, and PhD graduate programs, and has a network of faculty affiliates at nearby research agencies (National Center for Atmospheric Research, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among others). Our faculty members have a wide range of expertise and are involved in various interdisciplinary graduate training and research activities. Internal and external consulting activities of the department are supported through the Graybill Statistics and Data Science Laboratory. Position Summary
The Department of Statistics at Colorado State University invites applications for an Administrative Professional Research Associate II statistical and/or data science collaborator position in the Graybill Statistics & Data Science Laboratory within the Department of Statistics. This is a 2 year, 12-month position with the possibility for renewal based on performance and department funds.
Required Job Qualifications
  • An M.S. in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline is required.
  • Statistical computing software experience (R, SAS, Python, etc.).
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience to communicate, written and orally, technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Three years of experience in applied/collaborative statistics and/or data science.
  • Collaborative proposal writing experience, especially related to the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of results.

Provide statistical and/or data science consulting/collaboration expertise; data analysis; and pre-award and post-award grant support to researchers and at Colorado State University;

Develop curriculum for and delivering seminars/workshops on statistics/data science topics for researchers. Topics may include a) sample size calculations; b) mixed models; c) multiple comparison procedures; and d) other topics of interest to the applicant and the CSU community. Training may also involve mentoring graduate student assistants serving in the unit.
