The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.

Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an exciting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the team by researching and developing on Moon Ranger software, hardware programming, and field testing as necessary.


Core responsibilities will include:
  • Field testing as necessary.
  • Software and hardware programming.
  • Research and development on Moon Ranger.
  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
  • May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Master's Degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Minimum of 1 year of experience with software and hardware programming required.

Field testing skills highly desired.
