The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.
 
The Robotics Institute is in search of a Research Associate I. For this position, you will be responsible for research and development on the DoE project and also field testing and data analysis.

Core responsibilities will include:

• May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
• Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
• Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
• Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
• Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
• Research and development on DoE project.
• Field testing and data analysis.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:
 

Strong analytical, problem-solving and reasoning, and oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.

Minimum of 1 year of experience required with:

• Data collection and analysis
• Research methodology
• Research lab
• Research

Experience programming on UAVs highly desired.
