We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skillful Research Associate I to join Dr. Hui Han’s Lab! The Han Laboratory focuses on novel magnetic resonance hardware and methodologies for in vivo applications. To learn more, please visit: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/research/labs/han.html

As an RAI in this lab, you are responsible for assisting multiple projects on new MRI hardware and system, and the development of its in vivo applications, medical image processing and analysis. This position performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, which may include maintenance of equipment and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilites:
  • Performs software & algorithm development, particularly about image process and mathematical computation using programming languages such as MATLAB preferred or Python, Java.
  • Performs circuit design including DC circuit design and/or Radio-frequency (RF) circuit design, MRI coil design, electromagnetic simulation, RF circuit simulation, building RF measurement tools, MRI coil bench testing using vector network analyzer (VNA), and MRI coil testing on MRI scanners.
  • Performs CAD mechanical design using SolidWorks, mechanical assembly, 3D printing, maintenance and trouble-shootings with 3D printer.
  • Performs a variety of laboratory tasks and procedures, soldering and testing, and mechanical assembly, CAD and circuit drawing, basic software development including MATLAB and C, and basic image analysis.
  • May assist with animal husbandry.
  • Maintains lab equipment and related records. Keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results.
  • Transports, processes and logs samples.
  • Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information.
  • Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
  • Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies.
  • Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory.
  • Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery.
  • Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures.

Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological science or engineering field

Experience and Skillset:

  • Understanding of general research objectives.
  • Solid understanding of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
  • Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols. Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively and provide high quality visual representations of achieved results, as well as high quality scientific writing capability.
