Description of Work Unit

The Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University (CSU) and our mission is to advance the development of healthy, thriving built environments. We form interdisciplinary teams of on-campus faculty and students, and off-campus professionals to take research to practice. IBE specializes in program development and management at the project, organizational and civic scales. We provide thought leadership, services and education related to organizational sustainability, third party certifications, integrative process facilitation, behavior engagement and regenerative development.

Position Summary

The Institute for the Built Environment seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in obtaining a temporary (i.e., time-limited) Research Associate position within the unit.

Required Job Qualifications

Research Associate I Applicants applying for such a position must hold at a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree plus one year experience in an appropriate discipline, such as construction management, landscape architecture, civil engineering or another design and construction related field.
Research Associate II Applicants should hold a minimum of a Master’s degree plus two years related experience in stated disciplines above. Five years related experience may be substituted in lieu of a Master’s degree.

All applicants should have demonstrated experience in all aspects of day-to-day project management for
complex and diverse projects, including coordination of project teams,
organization of data and/or research collection, and orchestration, preparation,
and editing of deliverables. Additionally, all applicants should have demonstrated excellent written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (esp.
Word, Outlook, and Excel)

Preferred Job Qualifications

*LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional
*Demonstrated ability and interest in mentoring and managing junior staff and/or students
*Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
*Demonstrated professional acumen including client relations, presentations and public speaking, and scope and contract management
