The Memory Disorders Program is looking for a Research Associate I - per diem to join the team!

The Jona Goldrich Center for Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders brings together Cedars-Sinai clinicians, scientists, patients and their loved ones. Through a transformative gift from the Goldrich family, the center is paving the way toward new treatments and innovative memory care. Nationally recognized Cedars-Sinai physician-scientists who specialize in memory disorders guide the patients' care. We offer the most advanced diagnostic services and treatments for dementia and other memory disorders. Cedars-Sinai is one of the only programs in the country that provides comprehensive memory care. Our services include evaluation, treatment and ongoing care management. We support patients and their loved ones by providing information, resources and care coordination.

Working under direct supervision of the Program Manager and Medical Director, and in collaboration with the Neurology clinic team, several Memory Disorder team members and other CSMC staff involved in health services research, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. The Research Associate I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

This role will support a variety of projects within the Memory Disorders program, a new and growing academic program within the department of Neurology. The incumbent will support ambulatory clinic operations, help to build clinical program materials and libraries, maintain program patient lists, and assist with other projects as needed. This position will also assist with our growing research program, helping create materials for upcoming IRB applications and clinical trials. They will also create and administer research surveys to patients, families and staff, and compile/analyze the data. They may also assist in planning research focused planning retreats.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological science required.

  • One to two (1 - 2) years of laboratory experience is preferred. Understanding of general research objectives and familiarity with microscopy.
  • Experience with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization.
  • Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
  • Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and research data base systems such as REDCAP.
