Description of Work Unit | Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities. The NREL is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission “to ensure the sustainability of the Earth’s ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge.” The department’s interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe. |
Position Summary | The Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory seeks a laboratory technician in the field of analytical chemistry. The technician will contribute to research on metabolite anabolism and catabolism in soil organisms and the environment. The range of responsibilities may include lab organization, data collection and analysis, training other personnel in analytical techniques, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and providing written reports to support updates to granting agencies, publications and proposals. The position is ongoing, pending adequate performance and available funding. This is an open pool posting and applicants will be reviewed as positions become available. |
Required Job Qualifications | Candidates must have at least a B.S./B.A. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field by the start date of the position. Required qualification, rank and salary determined by specific position to be filled. Minimum Qualifications: Level I is for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and less than 3 years of relevant professional experience. Level II is for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and more than 3 years of relevant professional experience or a Master’s degree with no experience. Level III is for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience. Individuals with a PhD who have no experience may also be appointed to this position if appropriate. |
