The Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health is seeking a Sponsor Funded Research Associate I for the National Cancer Institute R01 Project.  

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leads the organization timely data collection through quantitative assessment surveys and qualitative interviews for 550 study participants for a federal research grant focusing on embedding a Smoke Free Home Prevention program into SafeCare
  • Calling/video conferencing with potential participants, assessing for inclusion criteria and performing the consent process
  • Calling/video conferencing to collect survey data regarding smoke free home status and parenting for study participants
  • Lead enrollment of participants via email, virtual meetings, and webinar communications
  • Manages weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly check-ins for enrolled participants, to include updates and reminders about project procedures, recruitment materials, progress checks on the families enrolled in the study, and reminders about any missing provider surveys for providers with enrolled families. 
  • Track relevant information about all participants ever enrolled, including contact information, agency and state, research condition, last communications sent, total families referred, total families enrolled, and more.  
  • Travel to recruitment sites across 7 states to ensure study retention among participants as needed
  • Manage and organize assessments and data collection completed by graduate research assistants
  • Lead all NCI R01 Research Project Operations in collaboration with Principal Investigator
  • Lead IRB amendments to GSU IRB as needed
  • Send, track, and submit replenishment requests for participant compensation.  
  • Send compensation for family surveys, air monitors, provider webinar attendance, Smoke Free Home training attendance, provider survey submissions, and any back pay after an increase in compensation was approved by the IRB.  
  • Manage data. Track and review all data cinoming for completeness via REDCap and Qualtrics
  • Works with state partners (across 7 states) to establish relevant research procedures that comply with states rules and regulations in child welfare and prevention services for SafeCare 
  • Conducts presentations to the investigative team and research partners of the preliminary data and results of the research
    Other Research Associate Related Tasks
  • Lead NIH reporting, conducted through the RPPR submission process annually.  
  • Support Spanish translation of Smoke-Free home assessment materials.  
  • Lead conference presentation submissions for NCI R01 project and present the work at local and national conferences.
  • Serve as a team member/coordinator for program evaluation with community partners on an additional research grants as needed
  • Assist in development of potential research presentations, posters, grants, and/or publications as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
