What We Want 

The Research Associate will assist with experiments that study cell movements using mutant strains and examining the effect of the mutants on cell motility. The selected candidate will also prepare and purify recombinant proteins and assist with general lab duties. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 years of relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with cell culture and microscopy

  • Some molecular biology and protein gel experience

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments: Designs, plans, coordinates, and executes research experiments and analyzes results. Assists with experiments studying cell movement using mutant strains and examining the effect of the mutants on cell motility. Prepares and purifies recombinant proteins.  Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

  • Lab Duties: Performs general laboratory duties such as model organism maintenance and maintains a safe working environment.

  • Documentation: Maintains an accurate laboratory notebook, writes manuscripts, presents findings, and contributes to grant proposals. Summarizes results for inclusion in scientific and clientele -oriented publications.

  • Training: Trains new personnel on lab procedures and performs other duties as assigned.
