Job Summary:
The Research Associate candidate will participate in a research program to study ion transport in health and diseases, including cystic fibrosis. The focus is on regulation of ion transport in respiratory and intestinal epithelial. Primary airway and GI cultures will be utilized to investigate regulation of ion channels by therapeutic approaches.  
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in cell biology, biological sciences, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry or a related field preferred- training in molecular biology and cell biology- experience in tissue culture - experience in electrophysiology- maintenance of primary cell culture- DNA and RNA transfection and protein expression in mammalian cells- molecular cloning (restriction digestion, plasmid preparation, and transformation of competent cells)- protein expression in E coli- immunostaining, fluorescence and confocal microscopy- cell-based assays- protein gel electrophoresis and western blotting - mRNA quantitation and RT-PCR- experience with Microsoft office and graphic software (including Graphpad prism)- excellent analytical and writing skillsRelevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
