Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC college of Medicine has a reputation for training best in class health care professionals and developing cutting edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

 

The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time, research associate, in the Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL), to help conduct research in the area of hematology.  Encompasses individuals at all degrees and have a high level of competency in research but may not have an independent research program.

 

The LDDL is in the CARE/Crawley building on University of Cincinnati’s East Campus. We are a diverse team focused on studying the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and cure of hematological malignancies.

Essential Functions
  • Contribute to collective team effort.
  • Document and organize research results and data according to NIH’s preferred good laboratory management practices (LabArchives).
  • Assist with the coordination of research studies in hematology.
  • Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on evidence-based literature.
  • Independently works on projects and problems.
  • Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpretation of data, and validity of testing.
  • Maintain timely project goals, deadlines, and studies for contributions to publications and grant funding applications.
  • Expertise associated with large data sets including annotating, cleaning, organizing, storing, and writing programs to extract biological and statistical knowledge.
  • Apply scientific skills and knowledge to demonstrate technical capabilities of single cell platforms (i.e. Mission Bio Tapestri).
  • Analyze and communicate results and data analysis from high throughput sequencing platforms.
  • Molecular biology techniques desired: General cell culture techniques; Tissue culture and related wet lab techniques (i.e. western blotting, functional assays); Preparing samples for sequencing pipeline.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in related field (i.e. computer science, data science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology

Required Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
  • May require experience with specialized software programs. 

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Five to ten years+ of in-depth knowledge of translational research laboratory practices.
  • Experience with specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Labarchives, Graphpad, Endnote ).
