Research Associate (Part-time)

A growing and dynamic organization seeks an experienced professional in the area of research and evaluation. Housed at Boston College, the Mary E. Walsh Center for Thriving Children (CTC) is a national hub for implementation, research, and policy to promote students’ thriving in school. Its flagship program, City Connects, is an innovative approach to addressing the out-of-school factors that can impact students’ achievement and thriving in schools. Currently implemented in over 170 schools across multiple U.S. states and Dublin, Ireland, City Connects collaborates closely with districts, schools, and partnering community agencies to connect every student to a tailored set of supports and enrichments in the school and community. This Part-time Research Associate will be a member of the Research and Evaluation team supporting the broader strategy and growth needs of CTC, including collaboration with research advisors and practitioners.

City Connects is seeking a part-time Research Associate with responsibility in the following areas:
Core Responsibilities:
●Serve as a key analyst on projects that advance the team’s research agenda, supporting the field to successfully scale interventions with proven impact, and generating new knowledge for consideration by the leadership team and key stakeholders
○Collaboratively plan research and evaluation projects and select analytic methods
○Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses with detailed written documentation that ensures analytic reproducibility
○Create summaries, reports, and presentations for various audiences, including academic audiences, boards of research advisors, and school personnel
○Contribute to conference presentations and manuscripts for publication
●Support conceptualizing and initiating analyses that contribute to advancing the existing research agenda
●Conduct large-scale literature reviews
●Contribute to the planning and development of grant proposals
●Enhance the quality, relevance, and usefulness of the Center’s research work

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
●Ph.D. degree in educational research, health education, or related social science research
●Deep knowledge of research methodology from social science research and evaluation and demonstrated interest in the use of rigorous evidence
●Proficiency in using STATA, SPSS, or similar statistical/analytical software
●Be committed to and passionate about opportunities to promote child and youth development through systematic student support in schools
Preferred Qualifications:
● At least 1 year of relevant post-doctoral research experience leading and collaborating on research projects
● Extensive experience with literature searches
● Experience in project management
