A part-time (24 hours/week) Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Danny Wu, PhD in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This lab, named Innovative Clinical Data Collection and Use Lab (iCDCU Lab), aims to develop highly usable and effective informatics solutions (e.g., information systems and dashboards) to improve care delivery and quality, support clinical and translational research, and facilitate learner-centered medical education. The lab applies principals and techniques in human-computer interaction, machine learning, visual analytics, information retrieval, and natural language processing, and work closely with clinicians and domain experts to develop such informatics solutions. The lab welcomes self-motivated, team-oriented, and dedicated individuals to apply. The candidate will pay a significant role in planning and conducting research projects.

• Assist with the coordination of research studies in clinical and health informatics.
• Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
• Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.
• Organize data collection and analysis procedures.
• Perform statistical and visual analysis of data, interpret data, and assist in judging validity of data.
• Assist in the design and implementation of complex data capture and processing systems.
• Serve as a seasoned level researcher.
• Contribute to the collective team effort.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.) as well as student workers.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field.

• In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
• May require experience with specialized software programs. 

• Master’s Degree in health informatics, information science, or a related field.
• Practical knowledge and experience in the following areas: Querying data from relational databases through Structure Query Language (SQL); Developing R statistical computing scripts and R-shiny applications;  Analyzing electronic health records (EHRs) and patient-generated health data (PGHD); Developing ASP.NET Core or Flask web applications.

• Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
