Research Associate 2-Engineer

Engineering | Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Conducts research in the areas of experimental research of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), autonomous vehicles and related systems within the Center for Automotive Research (CAR); specific research areas may include vehicle safety and telematics technologies, general areas of control, hybrid state systems, simulation, sensing, estimation, and sensor fusion, and telematics and communication technologies; works with CAR faculty, staff, researchers, students and industry partners to develop and carry out research experiments and support sponsored research; extracts and analyzes experimental research results and prepares technical reports for sponsors reviews; prepares and presents papers/reports; writes, edits and/or approves progress and technical reports for sponsors; edits research results for publication and presentation; assists in identifying, writing and preparing proposals to pursue new funding opportunities; develops task lists, time lines, and budgets for research projects; attends relevant internal and external research meetings;

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in engineering

Experience: Required:


2 years experience in an academic research lab performing research on sponsored projects; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills;  

The target hiring range for this job profile is $67,700- $90,300. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
