Research Associate who participates in planning, execution, and management of research projects in a translational biological/health science research laboratory investigating peripheral nerve health in the Department of Neurological Surgery; participates in implementing goals and objectives of studies; executes complex laboratory experiments; performs advanced molecular and cellular techniques on human samples, such as histology and immunostaining; collects, analyzes and interprets research data including clinical measurements of nerve activity and processing of tissue biopsies; assists with implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques in human subjects; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and makes recommendations for utilization; assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken; assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and international conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research and in execution of funded studies; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned in the running of the laboratory enterprise.
Minimum Education Requirements :
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum Qualification:
3-5 years research experience, with clinical/human tissue research experience preferred.
