Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The purpose of the position is to hire staff with advanced training in epidemiology and biostatistics who can perform data management and analytic tasks, both inside and outside of the Google Cloud Platform Big Query data warehouse environment, as required to meet multiple research, quality improvement and program/intervention evaluation objectives as assigned by the Director of the Clinical Research Service Center and in support of the Biostatics, Epidemiology and Research Design core at WSU.
Works in conjunction with data ingestion team to create datasets, tables and views that enable descriptive and analytic epidemiologic studies
Analyses data using SAS, R and/or STATA software from desktop as well as within GCP
Assists with preparation of reports, online materials and peer-reviewed manuscripts
Communicates with interdisciplinary research stakeholders about project timelines and deliverables
Provides epidemiologic support to the Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Research Design (BERD) core as assigned by the Epidemiology Director
 
Unique Duties
 
Qualifications
Master's degree in epidemiology/biostatistics/public health
5 years of experience in the field
Proficiency with SAS, R and/or STATA software (SAS preferred).
Data management skills including best practices for collection, quality control, generation of data dictionaries and development of multilevel datasets.
Experience with study design, biostatistics, interpretation and reporting of observational studies (cross-sectional and longitudinal data).
Knowledge of substance abuse research, local public health data systems and social determinants of health framework is a plus.
Strong project management skills are required, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Ability to perform basic descriptive analyses and support more complex analyses.
Ability to learn Google Cloud SQL programming to manage and analyze data in a Big Query data Warehouse.
