Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Federally-funded pre-clinical research lab is seeking a self-motivated research assistant with experience in behavioral, molecular and in vitro techniques related to brain injury research and testing of novel therapeutic interventions.
Essential functions will involve the following lab techniques: molecular biology assays; neurochemical assays; behavioral assays related to pain and cognition; immunohistochemistry; protein expression; animal care and surgery; animal colony maintenance; mouse tissue collection.
Duties may include: lab maintenance and ordering of consumable supplies, stocks and reagents in the lab, assist Principal Investigator in training new lab members, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute as an author on research papers and to attend national meetings.
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics or related sciences.
Attention to detail is a must.
Ability to keep good lab records and present/analyze data to other members of the lab or collaborators is required.
Excellent communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people including lab personnel, students and faculty is expected.
The ideal candidate should be a team player as well as be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics or related sciences.
Minimum of one year of lab assistant experience.
Two-year commitment is preferred.
