Research Assistant

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance in performing assigned tasks in support of research projects related to immunology and infectious diseases. Responsibilities include mouse colony management and participation in lab research projects.

 

Job Duties:

1. Under supervision, monitor mouse colony, manage breeding

2. Perform experimental manipulations with animals with limited complexity, such as body weight management and routine health checks

3. Prepare stock solutions, chemical reagents, and commonly used reagents

4. Organize lab inventory and maintain lab supplied with basic materials and reagents

5. Molecular biology: genotyping and PCR, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, histology

6. Assist lab members with scientific work, including dissections, cell isolation and cultures, flow cytometry.

7. Participate in weekly lab meetings 8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

Bachelors in a basic science is required.
