Research Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

The Research Assistant provides assistance/support for research projects in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine as part of the Tx Child Mental Health Care Consortium Child Trauma Research Network (CTRN).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

• Monitor for participant referrals and follow up with participants via calls/emails tracking participant status.
• Assist with recruitment and screening as needed
• Schedule participant appointments and follow up on no shows, cancellations, etc.
• Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into database.
• Collect assessment data from patients at the baseline visit and subsequent visits as specified by the research protocol. 
• Submit documentation per protocol in REDCap system
• Document adverse and suicidality events
• Identify and document protocol deviations as required per protocol
• Notify Research Coordinator of participant withdrawals and protocol deviations
• Organize file system, copy assessments, and self-audit files
• Provide resources to participants as needed
• Obtain required certifications for providing assessments
• Other duties as assigned

ACCOMPANYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant to the field of work preferred
• Two years of relevant experience preferred
