Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Center for Aging & Health (CAH) and the Division of Geriatric Medicine (DGM) are organizations within the School of Medicine. Both organizations report to Dr. Jan Busby-Whitehead, Director of CAH and Division Chief of Geriatric Medicine. The CAH is an interdisciplinary group of professionals who promote the health and well-being of older adults. The mission of CAH is to provide leadership and support for interprofessional clinical services for older adults in the UNC Health system and other health care partners across the state, promote collaborative research in aging using principles of team science, provide aging expertise and service by collaborating with organizations, communities, and state agencies that promote the health and well-being of older adults.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing support to faculty and staff with multiple new and existing research projects in The Center for Aging and Health
The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for assisting in data collection, data entry, monitoring, reporting and other study related tasks. This person should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Principal Investigators (PI), study team and be familiar with basic research terminology. The research assistant should adhere to standards of proper study conduct in compliance with the FDA Code of Federal Regulations and Good Clinical Practice. The research assistant will inform and help the PIs with issues that arise during study execution, aid with preparation for monitoring or audits, and help to the collection of study results.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A high degree of accuracy is required to ensure that data collected and entered for analysis is correct. Must additionally have knowledge of research ethics and work well as part of a team, and ability to organize tasks and time efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preferred qualifications include relevant research experience, experience working in clinical or research settings, experience performing administrative duties and tasks.
