Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Assistant to support several mixed-methods and randomized clinical trial studies focused on suicide prevention in adults. In this role, you'll assist with NIH and VA funded research projects conducted in inpatient psychiatric settings at Michigan Medicine and the Ann Arbor VA hospitals.

Responsibilities*

Your main responsibilities would include assisting with recruitment and enrollment of study participants and conducting study assessments and interviews. Other responsibilities may include conducting literature review, data processing tasks, and medical chart data abstraction. You will work in an exciting environment which provides support for professional growth activities, and potential opportunities to submit and present at professional conferences in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team. Notably, you will be doing work that has a real impact on patient's lives. 


Required Qualifications*
  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask. 
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Associate degree in a Health Science field (including Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or other health related discipline), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • An understanding of medical terminology; experience in a large, complex health care setting; the ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels; and knowledge of university policies and procedures. 
  • Familiarity with health-related research. 
  • Familiarity with conducting clinical assessments. 
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Excel, REDCap, and at least one data analytic software (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS, etc.).

Background Screening
