What We Want

The Reserach Assistant will help manage and execute research projects within the Multimethod Affect and Cognition lab (MAClab), in the Psychology Dept. This position will recruit and screen participants, which includes phone interviews with participants suffering from anxiety and/or depression. In addition to running said participants in electroencephalographic (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies. They will also provide data processing, data entry, and oversight of students and volunteers. What You Need to Know

Salary Range: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or related field (completed by Fall 2024) or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Prior experience working in psychology, psychiatry (or related field) research lab

  • Prior experience writing manuscripts in psychology, psychiatry (or related field)

  • Prior experience with emotion-focused psychophysiology research

Responsibilities:

  • Collection of EEG and Other Data: Collects a variety of psychophysiological and fMRI data from human participants. This position involves collection of that data as well as supervision of undergraduate research assistants in collecting that data.

  • Recruitment and Screening of Participants: Phone screening of potential participants for ongoing studies in the lab to ensure they meet required criteria/are eligible, according to clinical and other characteristics.

  • Project Management, IRB Submission, and Modification: Administrative tasks related to grants and projects in the lab, including but not limited to preparation of IRBs and reports to NIH and performs other duties as assigned.
