We are looking for a Research Assistant, to join the dynamic, innovative Veterinary Medicine Pathobiology department! This position is crucial to providing skilled, administrative, and managerial support in our research. In addition, this person will plan and direct certain phases in our research project. What you need to know

Required Education:

  • Appropriate bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of molecular biology, virology, cell culture, gene expression analysis and confocal microscopy

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's of Science

  • Research experience in the field of virology

  • Research experience in the field of poxvirus replication and host interaction, molecular biology

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skills in poxvirus gene expression, genetic engineering

Responsibilities:

  • Research - Plan, design, and perform experiments and data collection/analysis on viral replication and virus-host interaction . Problem-solve in a timely and successful manner.

  • Quality Control  - Ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.

  • Writing - Present results at local and national meetings. Write Papers, results, protocols and methods.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
