Job Description

Responsible for the daily operation of a multidisciplinary insect molecular biology and behavior laboratories with an emphasis on locust biology. Work as part of the Behavioral Plasticity Research Institute at Texas A&M University.
Job Responsibilities :
-Manage student workers and daily operation of the labs

-Insect rearing, molecular lab work involving DNA and RNA, plant growth, data collection and analysis of a wide range of experiments conducted in both the lab.

-Assist in the ordering, inventory, operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

-Ensure laboratory compliance with safety policies and regulations.

-Other duties as required/needed to achieve the goals of a high functioning interdisciplinary laboratory including, but not limited to, training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate student researchers.

Required Education:
-B.S. in Biology or related field

Preferred Experience:

Two years professional experience.

Required special knowledge, skills or abilities:

-Ability to analyze data and write reports

-Computer literate and able to operate across platforms and software packages

-Detail oriented with the ability to organize tasks and work with minimal supervision.

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (verbal and written).

-Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

-Ability to learn new skills and techniques.

Preferred special knowledge, skills or abilities:
-Familiarity with entomology, molecular biology, evolutionary biology; basic molecular biology skills (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis); basic morphology skills (dissection, microscopy).
