Job Description

The Research Assistant performs skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research. Plans and directs certain phases in a research project.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform experiments in the lab to gather multiphase flow data in annuli and pipe for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid, slurry flow, two phase flow, rheology, and surface tension measurement, leak detection, and calibration of the instruments.
  • Proficient in advanced measurement techniques, technical services, troubleshooting, DAQ, particle image velocimetry (PIV), differential pressure measurement, dynamic pressure measurement, high-speed flow visualization, and electrical resistance tomography (ERT) and other advanced measurement techniques.
  • Flow loop upgrade.
  • Exercise safety and standard in the lab.
  • Involve in procurement.
  • Scholarly activities.
  • Literature review.
  • Proposal writing.
  • Workshop/conference organization.
  • Matlab image processing.
  • Data analytics (AI/ML).
  • Collaborate extensively with the Texas A&M University, Qatar campus.
  • simulation using ANSYS Fluent/CFX and Olga.
  • Analysis of the data gathered and of data available in the literature.
  • Write report(s) and papers: 1. Monthly report. 2. Write technical papers to present the results of this work for journals/conferences.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Experience:

  • No experience.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering
