What we want

The individual will be involved in studies examining the processes that contribute to spinal cord injury using a rodent (rat) model. This will include animal surgery, behavioral testing, and tissue collection. The person will also assist in Western blotting, tissue section, and immunohistochemistry. Finally, the individual will be responsible for data entry and basic statistical analyses. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or related field (completed by December, 2020) or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Major in Psychology or Neuroscience

  • Research experience in Psychology and/or Neuroscience

  • Demonstrated interest in animal research and neuroscience

  • Demonstrated excellence in prior scholastic activities

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Desire to seek an advanced degree

  • Interest in the study of spinal cord injury and the neurobiological processes involved

  • Demonstrated excellence in prior scholastic activities

  • Demonstrated interest in animal research and neuroscience

Responsibilities:

  • Spinal transection and contusion injury

  • Locomotor scoring and assessment of cardiovascular function

  • Perfusion and tissue sectioning

  • Western blotting

  • Data entry and statistical analyses

  • Performs other duties as assigned
