Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

Preferred Experience:

  • Direct Bench Science Experience

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • BSL2 training, Radiation safety training

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to use a computer and computer software (Microsoft office).
  • Ability and expertise in at least some of the following: Experimental note keeping, aseptic technique, PCR, bacterial transformation, DNA extraction, protein purification, mass spectrometry, binding assays, bio-layer interferometry, TAMU radiation certification, crystallography, hydrogen-deuterium exchange, crosslinking experiments.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs supervised bench research related to various research projects.
  • Screen for small artificial binding proteins called DARPins that are specific to Sfh1, a yeast lipid binding protein. DARPins that bind to Sfh1 will be screened for inhibition of Sfh1 activity
  • Reading of scientific literature and assisting in the design, planning, and coordinating of experiments
  • Performs data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of experimental results
  • Prepares and/or edits figures and manuscripts
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
