The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Required Education:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Texas Driver License to travel between the different TAMU campuses in Bryan/College Station.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Life Science Discipline

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in microbiology, host pathogen interactions, cell biology, confocal microscopy, or flow cytometry. Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Superb communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, deadline-oriented research environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform basic research to support overall project goals.
  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research.
  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
  • Assists other laboratory staff. Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment. 
  • Travel between different TAMU campuses in Bryan/College Station.
  • Keep detailed records of findings and prepare periodic reports, including manuscripts describing research progress.
  • Support collaborative interactions with other research team members. Attend meetings, journal clubs, seminars and other departmental activities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the peer reviewed literature that pertains to the overall project goals and specific tasks required of the project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
