Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The School of Social Work Center for Social Work Research is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as a part-time research assistant for an ongoing evaluation of statewide efforts to reduce opioid or other drug overdoses. Funding for the position is available for one year. A second year is contingent on job performance and the availability of grant funding.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to initiate and assist in carrying out all evaluation and research related responsibilities under the instruction and direction of the State Opioid Response principal investigators.
Essential Functions:
Management of day-to-day Opioids and Drug Overdose evaluation and research operations.
Assist with the design of evaluation procedures/protocols and the development of data collection instruments.
Monitor data collection and participant recruitment.
Careful collection, processing, and statistical analysis of data.
Maintain evaluation protocols, work plans, task lists, and project timelines.
Management of research database construction and maintenance.
Assist in writing technical reports, data visualizations, and other deliverable documents.
Maintenance and submission of regulatory documents to the IRB, including continuing reviews and protocol amendments.
Maintain detailed study records.
Unique Duties
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related field.
One or more years of research experience.
Self-motivated, highly dependable, independent worker with ability to efficiently and effectively multitask, prioritize, and problem solve.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Advanced knowledge and skill level in the use of statistical software such as SPSS.
Professional experience creating tables and graphics.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with coordination and management of state or federally sponsored research or evaluation projects.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities.
Knowledge of program design and evaluation.
Experience with participant recruitment and consent procedures.
Proficiency in Qualtrics or related programs.
Knowledge of Wayne State University research systems, including the Institutional Review Board and the IRB's e-protocol system.
Graduate-level training in Social Work, Public Health, or related field.
