Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Assistant- School of Social Work at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

The Substance Use Research Team (SURT) within the School of Social Work manages multiple research and evaluation projects related to substance use and misuse in Michigan. The SURT Research Assistant will contribute to research across multiple projects. The duties of the Research Assistant include interfacing with clients in substance use treatment and recovery programs, as well as with peer recovery coaches.

Conduct follow-up clinical interviews with clients in substance use treatment settings.

Manually enter data from Qualtrics into an online database and update internal tracking systems.

Provide ongoing training and technical assistance to grantees on data collection, including online training sessions and videos, and group technical assistance meetings.

Interface with state peer recovery coaches to collect data on practices.

Compile evaluation and research activities for quarterly and annual reporting to state funders.

Perform other related work as assigned.


Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in social science (social work, psychology, criminal justice, or urban studies) or an Associates degree with relevant clinical work experience of 2+ years.

Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word) and MS Teams.

Proficiency in video conference platforms (Zoom, MS Teams).

Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work under pressure and function independently.

Customer relations experience


Preferred qualifications:

Peer Recovery Coach experience Experience working in/with community mental health/ substance use treatment settings. Experience addressing sensitive topics with at-risk populations.

Working conditions:

Currently offering hybrid schedules; some in-office work will be required (5447 Woodward Ave.) Hours are typically worked Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, but some evening hours may be required to accommodate client schedules.
