The Research Assistant (RA) will work on clinical research studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Studies primarily focus on substance use disorder and include observational cohort studies, and randomized controlled trials. The primary responsibility of the Research Assistant is to screen, recruit, enroll and interview research participants for the purpose of collecting study data. The Research Assistant will also track participants over time and conduct follow-up interviews and data collection. Additionally, the Research Assistant will assist with the development of protocols, forms and assessments, perform data entry and quality control procedures for the ongoing research, and provide administrative support to the study (i.e. scheduling meetings, preparing and circulating meeting agendas and meeting minutes for regular study team meetings, filing study-related documents, etc).


  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience.
  • Candidates should have an interest in public health and/or clinical research. Specific interest in HIV and/or substance use disorders is a plus.
  • Positive and flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills is essential.
  • Ability to work some early evenings and weekend hours as necessary.
  • Ability to approach and engage with vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed study protocol.
  • Ability to follow and summarize discussions related to study design and analyses.
  • Ability to work independently and be a good problem-solver.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
