Research Assistant - Robotics Institute

The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.
 
The Robotics Institute is in search of a Research Associate. For this position, you will be responsible for developing knit simulation code based on work done at Cornell. In addition, you will integrate this simulation code with yarn path generation code developed at Carnegie Mellon. Also, you will participate in and contribute to group research discussions.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Follow research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
• May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
• Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports. Documents results and processes.
• Performs library research and field explorations.
• Develop knit simulation code based on work done at Cornell.
• Integrate this simulation code with yarn path generation code developed at Carnegie Mellon.
• Participate in and contribute to group research discussions.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School or GED required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

0-1 year of experience required with:

• Record management
• Data entry
• Data collection and analysis
• Research

Experience with yarn simulation highly desired.

C/C++ and JavaScript experience preferred.

Hand knitting and machine knitting experience is nice to have.
