Position Summary
The individual to fill this position will design and perform the analysis of genomic data to find drivers in the progression breast cancer, and perform functional experiments of targeting these gene drivers in the primary or metastatic lesions. They will be expected to use of mouse models and human breast specimens to discover new spatial and temporal variability of biomarkers, and aberrant immune responses in primary and metastatic tumor microenvironment. For this position the individuals is required to have expertise in in bioinformatic approaches needed to analyze the RNA-seq data as well as single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq), and lab methods for performing experiments in animal models. They will have the following duties:
1) Oversee the progress of projects and collaborate with external parties working on our metastasis projects. For this work, the individual will perform genomic analysis of matched primary and metastatic breast tumors and will develop and communicate tactical project plan and work collaboratively with external collaborators to fulfill project objectives. The individual will communicate regularly with collaborators to give them an ongoing narrative of project progress, presenting results at meetings and writing deliverables, devising strategic research plan, data collection, data organization and potential issues and input needed to move forward. 
2) Learn and perform new experimental protocols including single cell genomics in combination with spatial transcriptomics in individual primary and/or metastatic tumors and/or sections from mouse and human specimens. The individual will act independently, in planning and designing research experiments, which requires special hands on training and operate with specialized scientific equipment. The individual is expected to establish priorities, and recommending schedules, timetables, and costs. The individual will oversee the data collection, processing, and analysis of this experimental procedures.
3) In both cases, the individual will also oversee other individuals who may perform similar work under the guidance of this Research Associate. They will be expected to engage in fieldwork and writing of technical publications and reports. Assisting students with the PhDs, MD fellows, master degrees, and graduate students in the lab will also be required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in genetics, medical science or a related field, and at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience involving large-scale data analyses and molecular biology or related field is desired.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Two years’ experience in genomic analysis of human tumors, both mouse and human, are required. Expertise in variety of cutting-edge genomic techniques as RNAseq and scRNA-seq and experimental molecular biology techniques are required and an emphasis in breast cancer research is preferred.
