Research Assistant Professor

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor appointment. The research assistant professor will conduct research with a faculty member, their research group, and collaborators on the physical chemistry and ultrafast spectroscopy of water and aqueous solutions. The person hired is expected to initiate and raise funding for an independent project in this area, and will be responsible for the construction and operations of custom ultrafast spectrometers used in this research. The term of the appointment will be for three years with the possibility of renewal.

Minimum qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in chemistry or a related field.
• A minimum of three years of related experimental experience, beyond Ph.D. training, in ultrafast spectroscopy is required. 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate research findings clearly to audiences through oral presentations and written work.
