Job Description Summary:
The Research Assistant Professor will focus on solving clinical problems of cancer radiotherapy at the intersection of medical physics and mathematics. A broad range of programs including algebra, analysis, combinatorics, control theory, dynamical systems, geometry, numerical analysis, probability, statistics, stochastic analysis/control, partial differential equations, set theory, and topology may be used to conduct physics research. Required Qualifications

Education: PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year related work experience in scientific computing (e.g., optimization, numerical PDE, applied inverse problem, and deep learning).

  • Excellent communication as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience: 2-3 years of related experience.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Daily use of computational mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline with expertise in scientific computing (e.g., optimization, numerical PDE, applied inverse problem, and deep learning)

  • Knowledge and expertise in scientific computing

  • Fluency in programing with a computer language

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in research as evidenced by graduate coursework, dissertation research, publications, and/or externally funded research grants.

  • Knowledge and research experience in medical physics (e.g., image reconstruction, treatment planning, linear Boltzmann transport equation)
