Job Description Summary:
The Individual will be responsible for conducting research and leading projects on the mechanisms underlying liver recovery after acute drug-induced injury. Scientific expertise in stem cell biology, especially focused on the hematopoietic niche as well as technical expertise in advanced flow cytometry and multi-label imaging are essential. Must be willing to work with other faculty, students, and trainees on all projects and the preparation of data for grant applications and manuscripts. Ability to summarize and present data in lab meetings and other public venues, such as conferences. Must be able to operate and work within a collaborative environment and be willing to learn new experimental/analytic techniques. Must also be willing to participate in teaching of graduate course and participate in small group teaching of medical students and mentor graduate students.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications
Education:

• Ph.D. Medical Sciences or related field.

Work Experience:

• 5 years’ experience in stem cell biology research.

• Experience with high impact publications in stem cell biology and related areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

• 5-10 years of research experience in the areas of liver biology and/or stem cell biology.

• Experience supervising and mentoring doctoral students.

Skills:

  • Record of scholarship in peer-reviewed publications, appropriate to rank.
  • Ability to participate in successful planning, execution, publication, and presentation of experiments.
  • Demonstrate competence in areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationship, and technical skills.
  • Potential for extramural funding via participation in recent grants and/or contracts, appropriate to rank as evidenced by application materials.
  • Demonstrate competence in areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationship, and technical skills.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Perform experiments using flow cytometry, cell sorting, multi-label imaging, PCR, Western blots and other techniques as needed.
  • Teach and participate in graduate courses and curriculum development.
  • Draft and edit manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals.
  • Develop own research program including writing grant proposals and publication of research.
  • Assist in training students and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Maintain animal protocols, perform routine lab maintenance and ordering of supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by faculty mentor.
