: 

The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Houston is accepting applications for a Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position, available immediately. The department is nationally and internationally recognized for research in drug discovery and development, experimental therapeutics, and pharmaceutical sciences. The selected candidate will participate in NIH-funded research work in Dr. Yang Zhang’s laboratory focused to understanding the molecular and signaling mechanisms that regulate lysosome function, inflammation, and pathophysiological mechanisms of various cardiovascular diseases. The research involves the use of genetic mouse models, primary cell cultures, echocardiographic studies, and genomic and proteomic approaches. The research team within the department includes experts in medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, drug discovery and development, cancer biology, preclinical and clinical pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical sciences.
The candidate is expected to develop a dynamic and innovative research program, garner peer-reviewed funding, and publish papers in high impact peer-reviewed journals during his or her probationary period.

Qualifications

: 

Qualifications: PhD in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, molecular biology, cardiovascular biology or related field with 3+ years of postdoctoral research experience; Significant experience and knowledge with vascular cell biology, animal models and surgery, echocardiography; excellent publication record, strong organizational and excellent communication skills for assisting and collaborating with molecular biologist, pharmacologist, and pharmaceutical scientist in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.
