The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor part-time, appointment stream position.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD degree and have research interests relevant to head and neck, otology, neurotology, and/or auditory disorders. The focus of this position will be research efforts in areas of auditory disorders and chronic suppurative otitis media. Strong consideration will be given to candidates whose research interests are relevant to understanding the role. Experience with imaging, auditory systems, histopathology, auditory physiology, in vivo animal surgery, cochlear dissections, and mouse models will also be highly considered.

The position is responsible for supporting the Principal Investigator, collaborating with the Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center faculty to conduct research, assisting with submission of proposals to secure externally sponsored research funding, and is responsible for the conduct and reporting of research projects and dissemination of research results. For this research, candidates should have proven skills and expertise in analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills, demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures, and equipment, the ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications, and must be able to work well independently or as a team member.
