The Department of Otolaryngology and the Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant Professor appointment-stream position in auditory neuroscience. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, Assistant Professor requires 1-5 years of experience.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D in Neuroscience, Physiology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Cognitive and Neural Systems, Computational Science, Communications Science, Bioengineering, or other similar Biological/Biomedical or Health Science related field, MD or clinical doctorate degree and have peer-reviewed publications in synaptic physiology. Candidates with expertise in patch-clamp whole-cell recordings in brain slices, stereotactic microinjection (AAV delivery and drug infusion), stereotactic surgeries (electrode and opto-fiber implantation to rodent brain), pharmacology, and animal handling are especially encouraged to apply.

This faculty position is within the vibrant and highly interactive basic and clinical neuroscience research community of the University of Pittsburgh, including the Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center (https://phrc.pitt.edu/ ), the UPMC Vision Institute (http://www.upmc.com/services/eye ), the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute (http://www.braininstitute.pitt.edu/ ), the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.cnup.pitt.edu/ ), the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (http://www.pind.pitt.edu ), and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (http://www.upmc.com/about/facts/pages/default.aspx).  Successful candidates will join an active auditory research community with diverse colleagues across the University of Pittsburgh and the adjacent Carnegie Mellon University whose research spans human clinical and behavioral research, auditory cognitive neuroscience, and systems, cellular and molecular neuroscience. This community is strengthened by NIH-supported training grants and certificate graduate programs (https://hearingandvision.pitt.edu/ ) promoting graduate and post-doctoral training in hearing research.
