Position

Research Assistant Professor position at Purdue University with research responsibilities related to bioprocess engineering in food, bioenergy, and bioproducts.  The successful candidate will join the faculty in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering on the main campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.


Qualifications

PhD in biological engineering, chemical engineering, or similar fields is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to lead a novel research program in the engineering of technologies and systems for bioprocessing of plant biomass, grain, vegetable oils, wood and other biomaterials into biofuels, chemicals,
biopolymers, food, and animal feed. Skills related to effective research, communication, and problem solving as well as the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams are required. Applicants should have proven research experience beyond the Ph.D. and articulate how their developed research program will integrate with or facilitate collaborative interactions within and beyond the department.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program in the development of bioprocesses for biofuels, chemicals, biopolymers, food, and animal feed. The research may address all aspects of the science and technology development, including but not limited to enzyme and chemical catalysis,
bioseparations, process scaleup, biomaterial physical and chemical analysis, and bioproduct testing. The candidate will be expected to secure extramural research funding, to develop collaborative research projects in agricultural and biological engineering department. The candidate will be expected to develop and manage a research program that will involve activities such as proposal writing, project supervision and mentorship specifically linked to their scholarship and research programs.

Appointment and Salary

Assistant Research Professor (12-month appointment; non-tenure-track). Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. A background check will be required for employment in this position.
