Department Summary
The Department of Materials Science & Engineering has a mission to provide a high-quality education to our diverse student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of materials science and engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering programs.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSls and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
Applicants should have a strong background and interest in the following areas: materials for rechargeable batteries, two-dimensional nanomaterials for energy application, Li-S battery, and metal-air batteries. The Research Assistant Professor will have opportunities to carry out collaborative research projects aligned with their career goals as well as experimental efforts that generate high‐impact research.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Postdoc research experience is preferred
  • Research experience and track record of publications in advanced rechargeable batteries (Li-S batteries, metal air batteries), nanomaterials and electro-chemical characterization.
Preferred Qualifications
Publications in rechargeable batteries in high-impact journals
