: 

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for one Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with emphasis on the development of sensing and imaging techniques for biomolecules and nanovesicles, through which new biomedical applications can be developed with clinical utilities.

The primary responsibility is to research particle separation and biomarker optical detection. The candidate must demonstrate familiarity with conducting microfluidics-based cell manipulation. Additionally, the candidate is expected to have strong theoretical and experimental background in optics and nanophotonics/plasmonics, microfluidic device fabrication, experimental skills with microscopy/ spectroscopy for characterizing biomolecules and nanovesicles. Basic understanding and practical experience in fluorescence imaging, image processing with ImageJ and other software packages are required. Deep knowledge of molecular biology techniques and diagnostic assays for cancer are preferred.

This appointment is for 12 months and renewable dependent on funding for the position. The anticipated start date is mid-April 2022.

Qualifications

: 

Applicants must have earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or closely related field at the time of application.

This research is conducted by highly dynamic team members with diverse backgrounds of science, engineering and biomedicine. The candidate is expected to assume a leadership position in several aspects of this research effort. Thus prior experience on the supervision of masters, PhD and/or Post-Doctoral level team members, and excellent oral and written communication skills, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications/presentations are required.
