About the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science (RSECS)

RSECS houses three departments and offers six undergraduate degrees, along with several graduate programs. Our small classes, engaged faculty, and atmosphere of experimentation and collaboration to provide our students a multi-dimensional education that prepares them to excel and innovate in science and technology. RSECS is also home to Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA), which is an interdisciplinary initiative using science, engineering, and technology to help early detection of aging and age-related conditions" such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, and to help our community develop healthy habits, interpersonal connections, and management of health conditions for a lifetime of quality experiences

Position Summary

This position supports the ongoing development of nanotechnology, microfluidics, bioelectronics, and electrochemistry research with applications to electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, and aging through research, publications, and proposal development.

Essential Functions

  • Perform nanotechnology, bio-MEMS, microfluidics, biosensors, bioelectronics and wearable devices, and electrochemistry research with applications to electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, and aging.
  • Individually and collaboratively write technical conference and journal publications based on research results, attend research conferences and technical meetings with sponsors and give conference presentations.
  • Individually and collaboratively write research proposals to federal, state, and industrial entities.
  • Assist and mentor graduate students in research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High level experimental skills in nanotechnology, nanofabrication, biosensors, microfluidics, and electrochemistry.
  • High level analytical skillset required.
  • Technical writing for conference and journal publications.
  • Vision for implementing and promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral training in nanotechnology and application in biomedical field.

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000.
