The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutics Sciences at the University of Houston is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track). The proposed Research Faculty should have research experience in cardiovascular biology. Specifically, conducting research activities on the guided differentiation of reprogrammed progenitor cells to form mature cardiac conduction cells for heart repair. This research project focuses on the investigation of the potential use of generating reprogrammed human cardiac Pacemaker-like cells and Purkinje-like cells as a cell-based approach for the treatment of sinoatrial nodal dysfunction and heart failure. Other projects include conducting research activities on aspects of G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR). This research project focuses on defining the β-adrenergic receptor (βAR) mediated “biased” signaling and characterizing A-kinase Anchoring Protein (AKAP) “signalosomes” in βAR-mediated signaling.
Candidates should have experience in molecular biology, cell biology, animal physiology, therapeutic delivery systems, cell culture, and functional analysis (in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo). Also, the candidate will assist in research collaborations, writing research manuscripts and research proposals, as well as providing day-to-day technical and scientific support to undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications

: 

Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. in biological sciences with 5 years of post-doctoral experience.
