The Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applicants for the position of Research Assistant Professor in the microfluidics research area. This individual will perform theoretical and experimental investigations of microfluidic flows, with focus on cell isolation for cancer diagnostics and prognostics. These investigations will lead to improved methods for cancer diagnostics from blood, known as liquid biopsy, as an alternative to the traditional tissue biopsy approaches. In addition, we expect the holder of the position to provide hands-on training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, collaborate with internal and external research groups, conduct experiments in microfluidics and analyze results/data, and support writing and editing of grants and manuscripts. This individual will work alongside other researchers and supervise students through their own independent projects.
