Position Summary
The Integrated Biomedical Imaging Laboratory is seeking outstanding candidates interested in developing novel hybrid noninvasive imaging systems for studying the pregnant uterus’s electrical maturation and mechanical changes. The goal of the lab is to develop tools to monitor pregnancy and labor progression and assess the effectiveness of treatment strategies to manage labor and prevent preterm birth. The lab uses innovative and cutting edge experimentation and relies heavily on bioinformatics and biomechanical systems engineering.
The successful applicant will utilize clinical research studies using MRI and Electrophysiological tools, signal and imaging processing, and statistical analysis. Applicants with a strong background in these areas and of various levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
Assists with research study, experiments, preparation of material, and documentation.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts research experiments and assays.
  • Evaluates research results, reporting findings and discussing project outcomes with staff involved.
  • Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
  • Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators.
  • Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
  • Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Performs literature research on specified topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter with strong critical thinking and great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of computer software and lab equipment including statistical software, spreadsheets, and lab management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research and record findings, with focus on pursuit of advanced education in field.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in laboratory operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 6 years.

Salary Range
$16.76 - $28.51 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
