Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Assistant - Postgraduate Wayne Law (Dean's Office) at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Wayne State University Law School’s Non-J.D. Programs ("Wayne Law") is seeking applications from Class of 2022 graduates of an ABA-accredited law school for a one-year Post-Graduate Research Assistant Fellowship. 

The fellowship offers an opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience working with the Law School Dean’s office.  

Depending on the placement the fellowship may be fully remote, hybrid, or fully in-person.  The fellowship is a 35 hour a week position.

Fellowship Responsibilities: The fellow will work closely with Dean’s office faculty and staff and will report directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  The fellow will conduct research and use data driven analytics to recommend and assist with policy development or other initiatives for the law school.  The fellow will assist the Accreditation Strategic Planning Analyst with reporting requirements and preparing for an ABA site visit in 2024-2025. The fellow may also assist with special events and activities.


Qualifications:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required.  Bar passage not required. Priority will be given to Class of 2022 law school graduates who have a demonstrated interest in one or more of the listed areas.  Candidates must be able to exercise engage in research and writing at a high level, independent judgment; responsibly manage multiple projects; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and complete assignments with minimal supervision. 

Selection Process: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until March 1. The candidate will start on or about March 7, 2023; the fellowship will last at least one calendar year from the candidate’s start date. Applicants are asked to submit (1) a letter of interest describing the candidates reasons for applying for the fellowship (not to exceed two pages) (2) a resume, (3) a writing sample, (4) a law school transcript, and (5) the names and contact information of three individuals prepared to provide professional references. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
