Research Assistant- POSTGRADUATE WAYNE LAW CAREER & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Assistant- POSTGRADUATE WAYNE LAW CAREER & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW at its Detroit campus location.

Wayne State University Law School’s Office of Career & Professional Development ("Wayne Law") is seeking applications from Class of 2023 graduates of an ABA-accredited law school for a one-year Post-Graduate Fellowship. 

Fellowship Description:  The fellowship offers an opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience working with Wayne Law’s Career & Professional Development Office. The fellow’s responsibilities will include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

-Employment-Based Research

-Student & Alumni Advising and Engagement

-Program & Event Assistance

-12twenty Position Research (12twenty is Wayne Law’s Premier Career Platform)

-Data Entry/Management

-Special Events/Projects

The fellow will work closely with Career & Professional Development faculty and staff and will report directly to the Senior Assistant Dean of Career & Professional Development. The fellow will conduct research and use data driven analytics to recommend and assist with the office’s initiatives. This will include the responsibilities listed above, as well as additional responsibilities as assigned that are viewed to be in line with the position.

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required.  Bar passage not required. Priority will be given to Class of 2023 law school graduates who have an interest in higher education. Candidates must be able to exercise independent judgment; responsibly manage multiple projects; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and complete assignments with minimal supervision. 

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until March 1. The candidate will start on or about March 7, 2024; the fellowship will last at least one calendar year from the candidate’s start date. Applicants are asked to submit (1) a letter of interest describing the candidate’s reasons for applying for the fellowship (not to exceed two pages) (2) a resume, (3) a writing sample, (4) a law school transcript, and (5) the names and contact information of three individuals prepared to provide professional references. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

Depending on the placement the fellowship may be fully remote, hybrid, or fully in-person. The fellowship is a 35 hour a week position.
