Description of Work | Drs. Charlene Senn (U Windsor), Sarah Peitzmeier (U Michigan), Katie Edwards (U Nebraska-Lincoln), and Paula Barata (U Guelph) have received a 5-year grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to study the effectiveness of the IDEA3 sexual assault resistance program. This is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) at two Canadian universities (U Windsor, U Guelph) and two U.S. universities (U Michigan, U Nebraska-Lincoln). IDEA3 is an adapted version of the feminist Flip the Script with EAAATM program modified for online synchronous delivery. In an earlier RCT, Flip the Script with EAAATM reduced the 1-year incidence of rape and attempted rape experienced by undergraduate women by 50%. The person in this position will serve as an ON CALL/PART TIME Research Assistant on this project and engage in a number of research and administrative tasks to support the success of this project at UNL, including dealing with sensitive topics, particularly women’s sexuality and violence against women. Due to the sensitive nature of the conversations with female-identified participants about this research focused on sexual assault, and the preference of some survivors of sexual violence to have these conversations only with like-gendered research staff, the preference for this position will be for those who identify as female. The College of Education and Human Sciences respects people, ideas, voices, and perspectives.
